Tigers Win District Championship

The Kirksville Tigers are district champions after a hard fought win over Hallsville 69-61 Friday night at Moberly. The Tigers led by 15 in the fourth quarter, but Hallsville fought back with a barrage of three-pointers. As the clock started to run out, Hallsville was forced to foul, and for the second game in a row, the Tigers were terrific at the foul line. KHS made 14 out of 19 at the stripe in the 4th, with Keaton Anderson going 8 for 10 in the fourth, 10 for 12 for the game. Jalen Kent made three big free throws in the fourth, as did Isaac Danielson as the Tigers hold on to win 69-61. Cole Kelly was red hot from the perimeter, splashing down 7 three-pointers to lead all scorers with 24 points, Kelly was also a beast on defense and he was named our Shelter Insurance Player of the Game. Keaton Anderson scored 23 points, nearly half of those were free throws. Danielson finished with 15 points. Hallsville’s Isaac Stinson led the Indians with 20 points. Kirksville climbs to 20-7 and will have a quick turnaround as they head to Troy Buchanan High School Monday night in the Class 4 Sectionals to play 13-15 Lutheran St. Charles, who beat Orchard Farm 81-56 to win District 7.
