Tigers Season Ends At Sectionals

The Kirksville Tigers played a good first half, but in the second half they missed too many shots and Lutheran St. Charles grabbed too many rebounds and the Cougars went on to beat the Tigers 52-46. KHS outscored Lutheran St. Charles 18-9 in the 2nd period to take a 31-23 lead into the dressing room. KHS led by 10 at one point in the second half, but the aforementioned missed shots and Cougar rebounds led to the Cougar victory. Kirksville led 47-45 late in the 4th, but a foul on Lutheran’s big center Demetrious Phillips as he scored a basket tied the game. His free throw gave the Cougars their first lead of the night at 46-45 and they pulled away on strong free throw shooting. Cyril Holloway went 6 for 7 at the stripe in the fourth quarter on his way to 17 points, Brady Connor 16, Philips finished with 15. Keaton Anderson led KHS with 18 points. Kirksville ends the season at 20-8.
