Vaunda Mae (Pipes) Phelps

Vaunda Mae (Pipes) Phelps, 83, of Queen City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa.

Born May 7, 1939 in Leffler, Missouri, Vaunda was the daughter of the late George Earl and Hazel B. (Haggy) Pipes. On August 14, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Vaunda was united in marriage to Keith R. Phelps who preceded her in death on November 13, 1990. She was also preceded in death by one son, Raymond Phelps; one daughter, Debra Arnold; two grandsons, James and Jeffrey Arnold; and one brother, Orville Pipes.

Vaunda is survived by one son, Scott Phelps and fiancée, Tiffany Reynolds of Queen City, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Tamala and Von Dole of Queen City, MO; son-in-law, J.B. Arnold of Coweta, OK; daughter-in-law, Alice Phelps of Belton, TX; eight grandchildren, Carl (Carrie) Phelps of North Port, FL, Joshua (Candice) Dole of Queen City, MO, Kevin Phelps (Brandon Kirk) of Greentop, MO, Jakob Phelps of Queen City, MO, Jason Reynolds of Queen City, MO, Nathan Reynolds of Bucklin, MO, and Angela Reynolds of Queen City, MO, and Elizabeth Dole of Memphis, MO; twelve great-grandchildren, Carl Phelps Jr., Caitlin Phelps, James Phelps, Mason Dole, Wrigley Dole, Reagan Dole, Parker Dabney, Prestyn Dabney, Pierson Dabney, Blake Roberts, Tia Chuites, and Kage Davidson; three nieces, Kelly (David) Snapp of Enid, OK, Cathy (Robert) Hibbard of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kristina Pipes of Oklahoma City, OK; one nephew, Steven (Renea) Pipes of Mililani, HW; four great nieces; four great nephews; one great-great niece; one great-great nephew; several cousins including her very special cousin, Emma Lea Creason of Kirksville, MO; and her very special caregiver, Violet Chuites of Queen City, MO.

Vaunda received her education in the Adair county rural schools and Kirksville High School. In her younger years, Vaunda enjoyed being a 4-H Leader in Schuyler County. She started working in 1972 at Florsheim Shoe Factory, later Wolverine until retiring in 1999. After retiring, Vaunda enjoyed traveling, cooking, crocheting, needle work, find a word puzzles, bingo, going to her grandchildren’s sporting events; and checking cattle with her son-in-law. Most of all Vaunda loved her family and the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Phelps, Jakob Phelps, Blake Robertson, Brian Russell, Steve Goings, and Jason Reynolds.
