Delbert Lee Atchley

Delbert Lee Atchley, 87, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at his home.

Delbert was born on August 15, 1935 to Sam and Cena (Vice) Atchley in Pure Air, Missouri. On December 13, 1997 Delbert was united in marriage to Debbie Hatfield and they were able to spend forty-seven years together.

Delbert is survived by three children, Marc Atchley and friend Zia Yardley of Olathe, KS, Brent (Trina) Atchley of Novinger, MO, and Carrie (Eric) VanSickel of Kirksville, MO. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Nate Atchley, Cody (Julie) Atchley, Cheyenne (James) Pinkerton, Brent Michael and fiancee Madison Edeler, Taylor (Bobby) Brandon, Sierra VanSickel and friend Chase Starbuck, Shelby VanSickel and Justin Girardin, Jacob Atchley, Justice Atchley, and Journey Atchley; ten great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Kinney and Jr. Hatfield; and a sister-in-law, Linda Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Atchley and his wife Doris; his sister, Betty Kinney; two nephews, Frank Kinney and Danny Kinney, as well as his mother-in-law, Mary Hatfield.

Delbert attended Golden Rule School and was a graduate of Novinger High School with the Class of 1953. After graduating he went to work for Temple Stevens before joining the United States Army where he served nineteen months over seas in Germany as an Army medic. After being honorably discharged in 1959 he went to work for McGraw Edison & Toastmaster for thirty years. He was last employed eight years at Hollister, Inc. until retiring in 2000.

After retirement, Delbert loved living on his families farm that had been in the family for over 100 years. He had been a member of V.F.W., loved to garden, watching humming birds, and getting together with his army buddies in Branson. His special love was for his family. He enjoyed being surrounded by his kids, grand-kids, and great-grand kids.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Pratt Cemetery, southwest of Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Nate Atchley, Cody Atchley, Brent Atchley, David Kinney, Kenton Kinney, and Kade Kinney.
