Marjorie Sue (Hankins) Faris

Marjorie Sue (Hankins) Faris, seventy-eight of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She had been in failing health the last few years.

The daughter of Billie (Sanders) Bowen and Charles Hankins, she was born on June 20, 1943 in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from the LaPlata High School in 1961. She was a member of the LaPlata Baptist Church in LaPlata, Missouri. After her marriage, she attended the Lancaster Baptist Church for several years. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.

On December 19, 1964 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Leo William Faris and to this union four daughters were born, Caren, Linda, Billie and Shirley. She spent her entire married life on the farm raising sheep and helping her husband with the cattle and hay season until her health started failing her.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Leo of 56 years of rural Lancaster, Missouri; her daughters, Caren Turner and husband, Roger of rural Queen City, Missouri, Linda Ledford and husband, Mark of Green Castle, Missouri, Billie Faris of Kirksville, Missouri and Shirley West and husband, Steve of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Cassandra Turner of Lancaster, Missouri, Bradley Turner of Missouri and Scott Turner of Greentop, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Baylee Turner of Lancaster, Missouri and Layden Turner of Greentop, Missouri; one sister, Betty Jefferson of Warrensburg, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Barbara Roberts of Lancaster, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Cody Charles Turner; one niece, Billie Jo Jefferson; one brother, Mike Bowen; two brothers-in-law, James Jefferson and Donnie Roberts.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music will be special CD selections of “I’ll Fly Away”, “Angels Among Us” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Pallbearers will be Scott Turner, Rodney Roberts, Michael Baird, Henry Schubert, Ryan Bushnell and Jordan Neagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Turner, Mark Bushnell, Mike Gray, Charlie Neagle and Steven Jefferson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Germania Cemetery. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
