Steven Leon Jordan

This is the story of Steven Leon Jordan. Steve was a larger-than-life character with a BOOMING voice and truly one of a kind. He absolutely loved the Milan Wildcats, the bright color red (especially his red Ford Trucks), “picking” on people in a playful fashion, and his family above all. Steve was an amazing dad, brother, son, uncle and the truest of friends to those he loved.

Steve’s story started on December 19, 1953, the fourth child to James “Junior” and Eula (Davis) Jordan, in the town of Centerville, Iowa. Growing up in Pollock, MO, along with his five siblings, Steve milked the cows and worked on the farm. He loved basketball and played for the Milan Wildcats in high school. He enjoyed burning up the blacktop in his Dodge Charger and later in his white convertible and red Cutlass S. Following graduation, Steve moved to Excelsior Springs and began his career as a driver for Job Corp. After several years, Steve moved back to Milan and began working with his father in the family business, Jordan Construction. In the year 1981, Steve’s only child and son, Tyler “Tippy” Jordan, was born. They enjoyed working on the farm, doing carpentry, and traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks together. Steve even competed at Super Mario Bros. with Tyler and his nephew Brice, gaining bragging rights at being the first to beat the game.

In his later years, Steve began driving all over the country hauling Amish and Mennonites, or anybody that needed a ride. Cruising the blacktops in his bright red Ford was one of his favorite hobbies. Steve would never miss a family get together and loved to throw down a hand of Pitch with anyone willing to play. He frequented the nursing homes and healthcare facilities, knew everybody’s name, and never walked by anyone without striking up a conversation or cracking a joke. Sunshine and happiness always followed in his wake. Steve was a devoted member of the Pollock Community Bible Church, lead the Adult Bible Study, and even filled in as a part-time minister on occasion. He spoke at many funeral services and always brought smiles, a good story, and often times even laughter. He loved God and Jesus with all his heart and read the Bible each and every night.

On March 29, 2021, at the age of 67, Steven Leon Jordan was called home to Heaven after his long battle with cancer.
