Barbara Person

Barbara Georgette (Esterbrook) Person, 83, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her home under the care of Hospice of Northeast Missouri, and family by her side.

The daughter of the late Mitchell and Nellie Marie (Ownbey) Jackson, she was born January 22, 1937 in Novinger, Missouri. On June 3, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Barbara was united in marriage to Ronald Dean Person who preceded her in death on May 30, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie (Person) Edwards, and one sister, Marie Worth.

Barbara is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Becky Person of Cameron, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Robert Butler of Callao, MO; one sister, Peggy Jackson of Macon, MO; eight grandchildren, Christina (Faren) Lindsey, Stephanie Cooper, Jessica Schindler, Rodney Butler, Kelly (Kim) Lyons, Kat (Patrick) Kimmis, Matthew Edwards and Joshua Edwards; eleven great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Liliana, Dallyon, and Chayton Lindsey, Zachary Crane, Hannah Schindler, Jacob and Jordan Lyons, Dylan, and Connor Thomas, and River Kimmis; three great great-grandchildren, Kyler and Ronnie Kay Watson, and Adalynn Crane.

Barbara was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1955. She was employed as a cook for Adair County R-II school in Brashear , Missouri, for forty-two years and loved the number of generations of children she cooked for.

Barbara will be remembered as being a fantastic cook who made the best ever vegetable soup, ham and beans and pies. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Barbara was a member of the Sabbath Home United Methodist Church where she held the position of Treasurer for several years. She also enjoyed volunteering for Hospice of Northeast Missouri.

Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2020. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Nancy Douglas officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sabbath Home Cemetery in Brashear, Missouri.
