Larry Probasco

Larry Probasco, 80, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 18, 2020.

Larry Edgar Probasco was born in Unionville, Missouri, on December 15, 1940, the son of Edgar and Mildred (Wolfe) Probasco. He was reared in Unionville and graduated from Unionville High School in 1958. Larry married Nancy Gregory in Unionville, Missouri, on March 30, 1963, and she survives at home.

Larry was produce manager for Hy-Vee, Unionville. In 1962 Larry worked for the Miller Furniture Store until he and Nancy purchased the store from the Millers in the fall of 1965; after that it was known as Probasco Furniture Store and they had the store until 1975. They also owned Probasco Sporting Goods from 1975-1984. Larry worked for Unionville Granite Works from 1984 until the pandemic in March of 2020.

Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially liked to hunt for quail and deer. He and Nancy traveled to Wyoming for hunting and vacation for over 20 years. Larry was a good storyteller and liked people. He loved little kids. Larry had a great memory for people and places and he enjoyed refinishing furniture. He was a 50-year member of the Unionville Masonic Lodge and served on the Unionville Cemetery Board for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Unionville.

Other survivors are two sons, Tim Probasco (friend Melody) of Unionville, Missouri; and Todd (Dawn) Probasco of Phoenix, Arizona; and a daughter, Mindy (Ernie) Conner of Green City, Missouri. Larry’s 6 grandchildren are Scott and Suellen Probasco, Noah and Logan Probasco, and Katelyn and Cameron Conner. He is also survived by two sisters, Jo Nell (Paul) Kimmel of Green City, Missouri, and Judy (Bill) Sayre of Kirksville, Missouri. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Probasco.

Graveside services for Larry Probasco will be at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Missouri, at 1:30 on Monday, December 21, 2020. Visitation will be at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 20. Facial coverings are required for the visitation. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home and may be entrusted with Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, Missouri.
