BOSTON 4 – N.Y. Rangers 0… Goalie Jeremy Swayman faced only 15 shots in his second career shutout. Patrice Bergeron scored in his fourth straight game for the Bruins.

New Jersey 2 – N.Y. ISLANDERS 1… Michael McLeod’s go-ahead goal in the second period proved to be the difference in the Devils’ win over the Islanders. Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 32 shots at goal.

PITTSBURGH 8 – Buffalo 4… Jeff Carter scored four goals and the Penguins doubled up on the Sabres to move back into first place in the East Division. Kasperi Kapanen had a goal and an assist. Frederick Gaudreau assisted on three goals.

TORONTO 5 – Montreal 2… Auston Matthews netted his NHL-leading 40th goal to highlight the Maple Leafs’ defeat of the Canadiens. John Tavares and Mitchell Marner each had a goal and an assist.

Chicago 2 – CAROLINA 1 (OT)… Alex DeBrincat found the net at 2:02 of overtime to lift the Blackhawks over the Hurricanes. Riley Stillman scored a tying goal with 3:01 left in regulation. Goalie Collin Delia made 36 stops.

Vancouver 6 – EDMONTON 3… The Canucks outshot the Oilers to snap their six-game losing streak. Travis Hamonic, Nils Hoglander and Jayce Hawryluk each had a goal and an assist.
