Lady Tigers Get First Win Of Season

The Kirksville Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the season Monday beating Clark Co. 47-39 in the first round of the HIghland Tournament. The game was tied at 17-17 at the break, then KHS outscored Clark 18-9 in the third to take a 35-26 lead at the end of the period. The Lady Tigers led 40-30 in the fourth, Clark went on 9-0 run to pull to within one at 40-39. KHS got two big free throws by Corinne Vorkink to help KHS pull away, helped by a huge Clark Co. traveling turnover with 14 seconds remaining, and KHS wins 47-39. That sends Kirksville to the tournament semifinals to play second seed Scotland Co., who essentially got a first round bye after their game with Highland got canceled to COVID concerns with the Highland girls.
