NHL FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF OPENERS SCORES…
CAROLINA 2 – N.Y. ISLANDERS 1… The Hurricanes got goals from Sebastian Aho and Stefan Noesen and then hung on to down the Islanders. Brent Burns and Martin Necas assisted on both goals. Goalie Antti Raanta made 25 saves. The series remains in Raleigh for tomorrow’s Game 2.

BOSTON 3 – Florida 1… David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk found the net as the Bruins eased past the Panthers. Linus Ullmark stopped 31 shots at goal. The series stays in Boston for Game 2 tomorrow.

Minnesota 3 – DALLAS 2 (2 OT)… Ryan Hartman scored 12:20 into the second overtime period to send the Wild past the Stars. Kirill Kaprizov and Sam Steel scored in regulation. Goalie Fillip Gustavsson finished with 51 saves. The series remains in Dallas for tomorrow’s Game 2.

Los Angeles 4 – EDMONTON 3 (OT)… The Kings overcame a late two-goal deficit to outlast the Oilers. Alex Iafallo capped the rally with a power-play goal at 9:19 of overtime. Adrian Kempe scored two third-period goals before Anze Kopitar’s power-play goal with 17 seconds left in regulation forced the extra period. The series stays in Edmonton for Game 2 tomorrow.
