NATIONAL LEAGUE
MIAMI 4 – San Francisco 3… Pinch-hitter Jorge Soler came through with a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Marlins held off the Giants. Jazz Chisholm had a couple of hits, including an RBI single.

Arizona 6 – ST. LOUIS 3… Ketel Marte hit a leadoff homer and Pavin Smith unloaded a grand slam during a five-run top of the seventh inning that carried the Diamondbacks past the Cardinals. Merrill Kelly (1-2) allowed a run on five hits over six innings.

Pittsburgh 14 – COLORADO 3… Ke’Bryan Hayes and Carlos Santana drove in three runs apiece to lead the Pirates in their pounding of the Rockies. Andrew McCutchen and Jack Suwinski hit solo homers. Rich Hill (1-2) gave up a run on six hits over six innings.

Atlanta 2 – SAN DIEGO 0… Austin Riley’s two-run homer in the top of the first inning provided all the offense the Braves needed in their blanking of the Padres. Max Fried (1-0) pitched four-hit ball over five innings in outdueling Ryan Weathers (1-1).

N.Y. Mets 8 – L.A. DODGERS 6… Pete Alonso’s run-scoring single capped a three-run top of the seventh inning that pushed the Mets past the Dodgers for their fourth straight win. Daniel Vogelbach hit a two-run homer and produced an RBI grounder.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
L.A. Angels 5 – BOSTON 4… Hunter Renfroe belted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning and his RBI grounder in the second proved to be the difference as the Angels downed the Red Sox and salvaged the finale of the four-game series. The game featured a 56-minute rain delay at the outset and a shorter delay in the third inning.

Texas 4 – KANSAS CITY 0… Three Rangers pitchers combined on a one-hitter in shutting out the Royals. Starter Jacob deGrom left after four innings with a sore right wrist. Dane Dunning (1-0) surrendered Kansas City’s only hit in 4-1/3 innings of relief. Josh Jung hit a three-run homer and Marcus Semien added a solo shot for Texas.

HOUSTON 9 – Toronto 2… Jake Meyers blasted a three-run homer during a seven-run bottom of the first inning and the Astros never looked back in their thrashing of the Blue Jays. Julks doubled home two runs and homered with the bases empty. Cristian Javier (2-0) allowed a run on three hits over five innings.

Cleveland – DETROIT (ppd)… Rain in Detroit forced postponement of last night’s Guardians-Tigers game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

INTERLEAGUE
CINCINNATI 8 – Tampa Bay 1… J.T. Freidl knocked in four runs with a bases-clearing double and a run-scoring grounder as the Reds rolled past the Rays. Kevin Newman hit a solo homer.

Chi. Cubs 10 – OAKLAND 1… Patrick Wisdom homered twice and drove in four runs as the Cubs clobbered the Athletics. Ian Happ had a couple of hits and knocked in three runs. Hayden Wesneski (1-0) surrendered a run on five hits over seven innings.

Milwaukee 7 – SEATTLE 3… The Brewers made it four wins in five games with their defeat of the Mariners. Brian Anderson went 3-for-5 with an RBI single. Corbin Burnes (2-1) limited Seattle to two runs on three hits over 5-1/3 innings before leaving with an injury.

Philadelphia – CHI. WHITE SOX (ppd)… Rain in Chicago forced postponement of last night’s Phillies-White Sox game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
