Canton Sends Lady Tigers To Consolation Bracket

The Kirksville Lady Tigers lost to Canton in the first round of the Highland Tournament Monday 57-49. An all too familiar pattern for KHS, They had a 5 point lead in the second quarter before Canton went on an 8-0 run and the Lady Tigers couldn’t buy a basket in the third quarter, along with few offensive rebounds as Canton outscored Kirksville 14-7 to take a 44-34 lead. Then, Canton’s Nariah Clay caught fire in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 23 points to put the game away 57-49. The Lady Tigers also committed 18 turnovers. KHS had three players in double figures, Elli Porter with 13, Jersey Herbst and Paishynce Fouts each with 10. KHS drops down to the consolation bracket to play either Keokuk or Clark Co.
