Robert Dale Matteson, age 64 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born April 6, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Alexander McDonald and Wanda L. (Lawson) Matteson. On September 22, 1988 in La Plata, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Robin Lynn Richardson who survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Wanda Matteson of La Plata, Missouri; three brothers, Stoney (Polly) Matteson of La Plata, Missouri, David (Teresa) Matteson of Santa Quin, Utah, and Paul Matteson of La Plata, Missouri; three sisters, Carol (Kelly) Buxton of Columbia, Missouri, Elaine (Jim) Scudder of Kirksville, Missouri, and Sue (Tade) Sullivan of Blue Hill, Maine; special family friend Donna Cook of La Plata, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, David Richardson of Warsaw, Missouri and Daryl Richardson of Cairo, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His father and one brother, Gary Matteson preceded him in death.
After high school, Dale began working with Quincy Soybean Company/ADM. He briefly worked for John Deere in Macon, Missouri before returning to Quincy Soybean Company in LaPlata where he was employed for over 36 years. One of Dale’s greatest enjoyments in life was helping others, including serving as a Boy Scout leader. Dale was of the Christian faith.
His hobbies included traveling extensively, abroad and throughout the United States. He and Robin had the pleasure of traveling to all 50 states, excluding Hawaii. Dale was an avid Mizzou basketball fan and enjoyed sports.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Hunsaker.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 22, 2022 with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
