Cardinals Earn Split With Cubs

Nolan Arenado and Tyler O’Neill homered in a five-run fourth inning, Corey Dickerson had four hits and the St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Chicago Cubs 13-3 on Tuesday night to split a doubleheader.

The Cubs blanked the Cardinals 2-0 in the opener, ending St. Louis’ season-best eight-game winning streak.

The NL Central-leading Cardinals got back on track in the nightcap with 16 hits. Tommy Edman had a solo homer, a double and three RBI.

Dylan Carlson had a two-run triple as the Cardinals pulled away with six runs in the ninth.

Jake Woodford (3-0) allowed one run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings in his first start this season.

Cardinals RHP Miles Mikolas (10-9, 3.32) is slated to start on Wednesday night, 6:10 with the pregame and the first pitch at 7:05 on KIRX.

The Dodgers beat the Brewers 10-1, so the Cardinal’s lead is up to 5 1/2.
