MLB Scores Wednesday 5-11

NATIONAL LEAGUE
PITTSBURGH 5 – L.A. Dodgers 3… The Pirates pulled past the Dodgers after spotting them a three-run advantage. Daniel Vogelbach smacked a go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. Josh VanMeter also homered for Pittsburgh.

CINCINNATI 14 – Milwaukee 11… Tyler Stephenson drove in four runs with a pair of doubles, Colin Moran belted a three-run homer and the Reds outslugged the Brewers. Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich hit for a record-tying third cycle. Only six players have achieved the feat.

Miami 11 – ARIZONA 3… The Marlins erupted to score eight runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow away the diamondbacks. Jacob Stallings’ run-scoring single sparked the uprising. Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed with a three-run homer. Avisaíl García and Joey Wendle also homered for Miami.

SAN FRANCISCO 7 – Colorado 1… The Giants cruised to their 10th straight win over the Rockies. Brandon Crawford homered and knocked in three runs. Alex Cobb (2-1) allowed a run on three hits over 5-1/3 innings.

Chi. Cubs 7 – SAN DIEGO 5… Alfonso Rivas delivered a tie-breaking two-run single in the top of the eighth inning to push the Cubs past the Padres. Frank Schwindel lined a two-run double.

WASHINGTON 8 – N.Y. Mets 3… The Nationals opened with a five-run bottom of the first inning and coated past the Mets. Juan Soto homered with a runner aboard. Nelson Cruz also went deep.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 5 – Toronto 3… Gleyber Torres homered and drove in all five runs to lead the Yankees pas the Blue Jays. Jameson Taillon (3-1) allowed two runs on six hits over 5-1/3 innings.

Tampa Bay 4 – L.A. ANGELS 2 (10 innings)… Vidal Bruján doubled home the tie-breaking run and scored an insurance run in the top of the 10th inning as the Rays outlasted the Angels. Kevin Kiermaier homered for Tampa Bay.

Oakland 9 – DETROIT 0… Zach Logue  (2-1) pitched five-hit ball over seven innings and bot plenty of support in the Athletics’ blanking of the Tigers. Sean Murphy and Kevin Smith knocked in two apiece. Christian Bethancourt had three hits with an RBI and two runs scored.

Kansas City 8 – TEXAS 2… The Royals pounded the Rangers to snap a three-game skid. Whit Merrifield homered. Bobby Witt, Jr., knocked in three runs. Emmanuel Rivera capped the scoring with a bases-clearing triple.

Houston – MINNESOTA – Houston (susp.)… Inclement weather halted play in the top of the fourth inning with the Astros leading 5-1 will resume today as part of a traditional doubleheader.

Cleveland – CHI. WHITE SOX (ppd)… A COVID-19 outbreak that has sidelined Guardians manager Terry Francona and several of the team’s coaches forced postponement of last night’s game with the White Sox. A makeup date was not announced.

INTERLEAGUE
Philadelphia 4 – SEATTLE 2… Rhys Hoskins unloaded a grand slam in the top of the fourth inning to provide the Phillies with all the offense they needed in the win over the Mariners. Hoskins has homered in three straight games.

ATLANTA 5 – Boston 3… Orlando Arcia’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Braves over the Red Sox. Travis Demerritte homered with a runner aboard and Matt Olson doubled home a run in the third.

ST. LOUIS 10 – Baltimore 1… Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan stroked two-run doubles as the Cardinals walloped the Orioles. Goldschmidt also had a run-scoring single. Juan Yepez homered with the bases empty. Miles Mikolas (3-1) held Baltimore to a run on four hits over seven innings.
