NHL Playoffs Wednesday 5-11

NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS SCOREBOARD…
N.Y. RANGERS 5 – Pittsburgh 3… Filip Chytil scored a tie-breaking goal early in the third period and the Rangers went on to beat the Penguins and close within 3-2 in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Jacob Trouba and Alexis Lafrenière each had a goal and an assist. Goalie Igor Shesterkin made 27 saves. The series returns to Pittsburgh for Game 6 tomorrow.

FLORIDA 5 – Washington 3… The Panthers overcame a three-goal deficit to down the Capitals and take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series. Carter Verhaeghe scored two goals and assisted on three others. Aleksander Barkov had two assists. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30 shots at goal. The series moves to Washington for Game 6 tomorrow.

CALGARY 3 – Dallas 1… Mikael Backlund, Andrew Mangiapane and Trevor Lewis found the net as the Flames scored all three goals in the third period to get past the Stars and take a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference first-round playoff series.  Goalie Jacob Markstrom made 20 saves. The series shifts to Dallas for Game 6 on Saturday.
