I. Mable Parrish, 97 of Kirksville passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
She was born August 31, 1924 at Philadelphia, MO the daughter of John R. and Ruth (Philleo) Peak.
Her childhood days were spent in Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota. She graduated from Hastings, Nebraska Senior High School in 1943. On September 13, 1944 in Springfield, MO she was united in marriage to Noble A. Parrish. He passed away on April 8, 2008 after spending 63 ½ years together. To this union two sons were born Edwin R. and Clifford E. Much of their life was spent as Knox County farmers. They also lived in Iowa City, Coralville and Wapello, Iowa. Mabel was a graduate in 1961 from University of Iowa School of Practical Nursing and spent many years employed in nursing service in Missouri and Iowa.
Mabel is survived by her two sons, Edwin R. Parrish of Kirksville and Clifford E. (Linda) Parrish of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren, Brandon Parrish and Heather Parrish of Burlington, IA and Katie (Brad) Buck of Kirksville; six great grandchildren, Cody, Ella, Dalton and Adalynn of Burlington and Axel and Nash of Kirksville; one step granddaughter, Nancy (Craig) Berryman; one step granddaughter-in-law, Dawn Bruner and several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Roy and wife Kathryn; an infant sister; and a step grandson, Adam Bruner.
She enjoyed outdoor flowers, gardening and yard work. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, puzzles and genealogy along with visits with family, friends and many church friends and attending services as she was able.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to the East Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Knox County.
