Lady Tigers Trounce Highland

The Kirksville Lady Tigers made quick work out of Highland 66-30 in the first round of the Highland Tournament late Tuesday night. KHS led from start to finish, taking a 20-8 lead at the end of the first. The Lady Tigers outscored Highland 18-2 in a big 2nd quarter to take a 38-10 lead at the break. Elli Porter led KHS with 17 points. Balanced scoring for Kirksville, Corinne Vorkink and Natalie Pigg each with 8 points, 7 for Jenna Jackson, 6 for Megan Pike and Jada Jackson. Ansley Bringer scored 26 of Highland’s 30 points, including four 3-pointers. The Lady Tiger defense played strong again, forcing 20 turnovers. Second seed Kirksville gets to 9-2 on the year and will play third seed Palmyra Thursday in the semi-finals at 7:30.
