NFL Scores Sunday 9-12

NFL SCOREBOARD…
HOUSTON 37 – Jacksonville 21… Tyrod Taylor threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans’ win over the error-prone Jaguars. Brandin Cooks had 132 yards receiving. Mark Ingram had 85 yards rushing and a TD in his Houston debut. Houston’s defense recorded three interceptions.

L.A. Chargers 20 – WASHINGTON 16… Justin Herbert threw for 337 yards and a touchdown as the Chargers fought off the Redskins. Hebert hit Mike Williams with a go-ahead 3-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter. L.A. went 14-of-19 on third down.

Seattle 28 – INDIANAPOLIS 16… Russell Wilson threw three of his four touchdown passes in the first half and let his defense take over in the second as the Seahawks pulled away from the Colts.

CAROLINA 19 – N.Y. Jets 14… Sam Darnold found fellow ex-Jet Robby Anderson with a 57-yard touchdown pass and ran for a score as the Panthers got past the Jets. Christian McCaffrey totaled 187 yards from scrimmage on 30 touches

CINCINNATI 27 – Minnesota 24… Evan McPherson booted a 33-yard field goal in overtime and the Bengals outlasted the Vikings. Cincinnati’s Germaine Pratt recovered Dalvin Cook’s fumble to set up the winning drive. Joe Burrow connected with tight end C.J. Uzomah for a 32-yard gain prior to the winning kick.

Arizona 38 – TENNESSEE 13… Kyler Murray threw for four TDs and ran for a fifth as the Cardinals hammered the Titans. DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk each caught two scoring passes.

San Francisco 41 – DETROIT 33… The 49ers carried a 38-10 lead early in the fourth quarter and hung on to down the Lions. Jimmy Garoppolo completed 17 of 25 passes for 314 yards and hit Deebo Samuel with a 79-yard touchdown pass. Samuel had nine catches for a career-high 189 yards. Dre Greenlaw returned an interception 39 yards for a score.

Pittsburgh 23 – BUFFALO 16… The Steelers overcame a 10-point deficit to beat the Bills. Ben Roethlisberger found Diontae Johnson with a go-ahead 5-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia 32 – ATLANTA 6… The Eagles made a winner of Nick Sirianni in his head coaching debut by ripping the Falcons. Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes, the first of them to Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith.

KANSAS CITY 33 – Cleveland 29… The Chiefs came on strong in the second half after trailing 22-10 at halftime. Patrick Mahomes threw 5 yards to Travis Kelce for the go-ahead score with 7:04 remaining. Three minutes earlier, Mahomes hit 75-Tyreek Hill with a 75-yard scoring pass.

NEW ORLEANS 38 – Green Bay 3… Jameis Winston passed for five touchdowns and the Saints dominated the Packers. Juwan Johnson hauled in two TD tosses. New Orleans intercepted reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers twice.

Denver 27 – N.Y. GIANTS 13… Teddy Bridgewater threw for 264 yards and a pair of touchdown passes while keeping the Broncos on the field for more than 35 minutes in their defeat of the Giants. Melvin Gordon III rushed for 101 yards and a score.

Miami 17 – NEW ENGLAND 16… Tua Tagovailoa ran 3 yards for a first-quarter score and found Jaylen Waddle with a 3-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter as the Dolphins edged the Patriots. Xavien Howard recovered a Damien Harris fumble with New England driving in the fourth to help seal the win.

L.A. RAMS 34 – Chicago 14… Matthew Stafford passed for 321 yards and three touchdowns in a successful debut or the Rams. He found Van Jefferson with a 67-yard touchdown strike on his second pass of the game. Cooper Kupp had seven receptions for 108 yards and a TD.
