MLB Scores Sunday 9-12

NATIONAL LEAGUE
ATLANTA 5 – Miami 3… Ozzie Albies and Freddie Freeman hit solo homers in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a tie and send the Braves past the Marlins. Eddie Rosario also went deep. The victory moved the Braves 4½ games ahead of Philadelphia in the NL East race with 19 games left.

Colorado 5 – PHILADELPHIA 4… Garrett Hampson homered twice and knocked in all five runs as the Rockies held off the Phillies fell 4 1/2 games behind NL East-leading Atlanta with 19 games to play. Hampson’s three-run blast in the top of the fifth inning erased a two-run deficit.

ST. LOUIS 2 – Cincinnati 0…  J.A. Happ (9-8) pitched two-hit ball over 5 1/3 innings and got help from Cardinals relievers in the blanking of the Reds. Nolan Arenado provided all the offense St. Louis needed with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. The Cards have moved within a game of Cincinnati and San Diego for the final NL wild-card spot.

L.A. DODGERS 8 – San Diego 0… Max Scherzer (13-4) pitched 7-1/3 perfect innings and became the 19th player in major league history with 3,000 strikeouts in the Dodgers’ blanking of the Padres. The right-hander struck out nine in his eight-inning masterpiece. Justin Turner’s three-run homer capped a four-run seventh that put the game away. Corey Seager and Mookie Betts also homered for L.A., which remains 2-1/2 games back of first-place San Francisco in the NL West.

San Francisco 6 – CHI. CUBS 5… Wilmer Flores opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first inning and added a two-run homer in the fifth to lead the Giants past the Cubs for their season-high seventh straight win. Kris Bryant had a couple of hits, knocked in a run and scored twice.

Washington 6 – PITTSBURGH 2… Lane Thomas belted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Nationals cruised past the Pirates. Patrick Corbin (8-14) allowed two runs on four hits over seven strong innings.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Toronto 22 – BALTIMORE 7… The Blue Jays got grand slams from Lourdes Gurriel, Jr., and Teoscar Hernández in their thrashing of the Orioles. Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., connected for his 44th homer, tying him with the L.A. Angels’ Shohei Ohtani for the major league lead. Jake Lamb homered during a 10-run third inning for Toronto.

DETROIT 8 – Tampa Bay 7 (11 innings)… Robbie Grossman drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th inning to force home Victor Reyes with the winning run. Jeimer Candelario homered twice for the Tigers. His second homer came with a runner aboard and tied the game in the 10th.

HOUSTON 3 – L.A. Angels 1… Lance McCullers, Jr., (12-4) limited the Angels to (12-4) a run a three hits over six innings and the Astros breezed to the win. Kyle Tucker cracked a tie-breaking two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning..

Kansas City 5 – MINNESOTA 3… Kyle Isbel singled home Hunter Dozier with a go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning and the Royals topped the Twins. Adalberto Mondesi homered for Kansas City. Whit Merrifield had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run.

CHI. WHITE SOX 2 – Boston 1…  Leury Garcia belted a two-out walkoff solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the White Sox over the Red Sox. Luis Robert’s sixth-inning single scored Cesar Hernandez with Chicago’s first run.

Texas 4 – OAKLAND 3… Isiah Kiner-Falefa had three hits, including a two-run single, and the Rangers held off the Athletics. Taylor Hearn (6-4) surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings in winning his fourth straight start. Oakland remains two games behind the New York Yankees for the second AL wild card.

INTERLEAGUE
Milwaukee 11 – CLEVELAND 1… Eric Lauer (6-5) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and got plenty of support offensively in the Brewers’ drubbing of the Indians. Kolten Wong and Avisail Garcia each homered twice. Manny Pina also went deep for Milwaukee.

Arizona 5 – SEATTLE 4… Tyler Gilbert (2-2) allowed just two hits – both solo homers – over 5 1/3 innings and the Diamondbacks squeaked out a win over the Mariners. Henry Ramos lined a tie-breaking two-run double in the top of the sixth inning. Starling Marte homered with the bases empty.

N.Y. METS 7 – N.Y. Yankees 6… Francisco Lindor homered three times and knocked in five runs to power the Mets past the Yankees. Lindor’s third homer broke a tie in the bottom of the eighth inning and proved to be the difference.
