Charles Edwin Jackson

Charles Edwin Jackson, 77 of Downing, Missouri passed away peacefully at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

The son of Bernie Edwin and Loubell (Bondurant) Jackson, he was born on March 7, 1944 in rural Downing, Missouri. Edwin was a graduate of the Downing High School in Downing, Missouri. On June 30, 1963, in Downing, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Anita Kay Current and to this union three children were born, Bruce, Brent and Beverly.

Charles Edwin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita Jackson of Downing, Missouri; three children, Bruce Jackson (Linda), Brent Jackson (Lori) and Beverly Winn (Rex) all of Downing, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Anthony (Abbey) Jackson, Dillon (Ambur) Jackson, Houston Jackson (Catie), Shelbey (Beau) Blankinship, Christy (Tyler) Reed, Tiffany Jackson (Tyler), Khelcie (Dustin) Ruth, Jessica Jackson, Lynnedee Winn and Dalton Jackson; twelve great grandchildren, Brayden Reed, Kolt Roberts, Emilie Jackson, Aliskah Orton, Sophia Jackson, Mason Ruth, Kreo Blankinship, Evelyn Reed, Charles (Charlie) Jackson, Natalie McGoldrick, Cylah Ruth and Cooper Jackson; three sisters, Romona Anders (Basil) of Downing, Missouri, Sandra Jeffries of Lancaster, Missouri and Penny Mossbrooks (Harry) of Kirksville, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Stanley Sayre, that Edwin thought of as a brother; other family members and many good friends.

Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Bernie on May 10, 1986 and Loubell on July 18, 2002; one sister in infancy; one sister and her husband, Roberta and Ronnie Martin and one brother-in-law, Art Jeffries.

Edwin spent his entire life in rural Downing, Missouri running a dairy farm with his family. He was a member of the Downing Baptist Church. He was also a board member for a number of years and President of the Board for 14 years for the Schuyler County Mutual Insurance.

He loved to watch the Coffey Ropers and was a member for several years. As long as his health permitted, he was very active in the Jr. Livestock Show from being an active leader to an active spectator. He was an avid Tractor Puller with his 7600 Ford tractor and received multiple trophies and awards. When he decided to stop pulling, he still was an avid spectator of pulls and graduated to being “Supervisor of Operations” of Randy Sayre’s TSPA in Downing, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Downing Baptist Church in Downing, Missouri with Bruce Jackson assisted by Les Leftwich officiating. Special selections will be sung, including one of Edwin’s favorites accompanied by Twila Anderson. Pallbearers will be Anthony Jackson, Dillon Jackson, Houston Jackson, Dalton Jackson, Beau Blankinship, Tyler Reed, Dustin Ruth and Tyler McGoldrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelbey Blankinship, Christy Reed, Tiffany Jackson, Khelcie Ruth, Jessica Jackson and Lynnedee Winn.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Downing Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.
