Angels Beat Royals

Shohei Ohtani can pitch at over 100 mph. He can hit over 100 mph, too.

Ohtani had three hits and three RBI, including a double that left the bat at 119 mph and helped the Los Angeles Angels over the Kansas City Royals 10-3 Monday night.

Ohtani is back to a two-way player this season after being limited to two pitching appearances last year in his return from Tommy John surgery.

His two-run double in the seventh off the Royals’ Scott Barlow gave Los Angeles a 6-3 lead.

Ohtani added an RBI double against Jake Newberry in the ninth.

Alex Cobb (1-0) struck out 10, allowed three runs, four hits and one walk in 5 2/3 innings.

Brady Singer (0-2) gave up four runs — one earned — and seven hits in five innings.

Cleveland and Minnesota are tied atop the AL Central, the White Sox and Royals are tied for third,, 1/2 game behind.

The Angels send righty Dylan Bundy (0-0, 3.75) to the mound to face LHP Danny Duffy (1-0, 0.00) on Tuesday night at 7:10.
