Francis Junior “Abe” Hollon passed away March 23, 2021 with his family by his side.
Abe was the oldest son of Carl “Cotton” Francis Hollon and Cleora (Stone) Hollon born February 12, 1928. On October 15, 1949 he married Phyllis (Gramling) Hollon, they have had 72 years together, to their union 3 children were born, Sandra, Richard, and Scott.
Abe is survived by: His wife, Phyllis of the home; daughter, Sandra and husband Paul Henley of Milan; sons, Richard and wife Linda Hollon of Milan and Scott Hollon of Milan; grandchildren, Shane Watkins (Cindy Fountain), Jeff (Tosha) Watkins, Tanisha (Brian) Long, Tiffany (Alex) Sadler, Kyle Hollon, Kelly (Jesus) Lopez; great grandchildren, Megan (Rhett) Karren, Beau (Margarita) Watkins, Blake (Jordan) Watkins, Brett Watkins, Brody Watkins (Cheyanne Hines), Keisha Long (Levi Turner), Roger Long, Jarrod Long, Alison Long, Keagan Sadler, Addison Sadler; step great grandchildren, Abbi Shivley, Nathan Shivley, and Breanna Wyant; great great grandchildren, Lainey Karren, Molly Karren, Ella Karren, Clara Karren, Sofia Watkins, Augustine Watkins, Lucia Watkins, Taygen Watkins, Oakley Watkins, Zayden Watkins, and Janielle Sallee; sisters-in-law, Joan Hollon, Wanda Hollon, Earlene Pinnick, and Carolee Wilson; Brothers-in-law, Junior and wife Norma Gramling, Burt and wife Darlene Gramling, and Marvin and wife Pat Gramling; and several nieces and nephews. Abe was preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather, Carl Adkins; brothers, Bob Hollon, Richard Hollon, and Larry “Chuck” Hollon.
As a young man he worked at Stampers until injuring a hand. He started with the Milan Highway Department in maintenance, retiring as foreman after 42 years. He was a hard worker, strong man, and there was never a problem that he didn’t try to fix himself. Abe enjoyed hunting, fishing, shopping, and teaching the grandkids to drive tractors. He was always interested in their lives and being a little nosey. He never met a stranger, and from the day you met Abe, you never forgot him. Abe never let anything go and loved teasing and tormenting people.
Dad will be greatly missed but we know he is in a place of no pain, before passing he said he was going to heaven and we know he will be held in God’s arms.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM. The family requests that anyone attending to please wear a mask.
