He retired with Western Metal out of Louisburg, Kansas, and he and Shirley moved back to Unionville in 2015.

He was a founder of the Ankeny, Iowa, Football League and the Little League Baseball of Ankeny, Iowa. He liked to attend and exhibit at car shows and had recently purchased a 2002 anniversary edition Camaro. Lanny liked to work in his yard and looked forward to planting flowers each spring. He was a baptized member of the United Methodist Church and the Unionville Country Club where he liked to play golf. He was also a long-time Mason and Shriner and a member of the Ankeny Izaak Walton League.

Lanny is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, a son, Bradley (Katie) Tietsort of Topeka, Kansas, and a daughter, Debra Tietsort of Unionville. He is also survived by one grandson, Brandon (Kelley) Smith, and two great grandchildren, Morgan and Graham Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Randy Tietsort, who passed way in 2009, and his brother Leroy and Leroy’s wife Nancy.
