John Earl Funk

John Earl Funk, 63, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.

John was born on August 30, 1957, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Vernon Francis Jr. and Dorothy Estella Bowen Funk.

He was raised in Hurdland, Missouri and graduated from the Knox County High School, in the Class of 1975.

Currently John worked at McKnight Tire in Jefferson City, Missouri.

John was active with the Faith Lutheran Church and volunteered with the Salvation Army, both of Jefferson City, Missouri. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR but he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by children, Holly Funk of Columbia, Missouri, Carmen and her husband Mike Hopkins of Union, Missouri, and Lydia and her husband Eric Roberto of Jefferson City, Missouri; an uncle, John A. and his wife Eileen Funk of Abingdon, Illinois; cousins, Darrell and his wife Henrietta Garman of Kirksville, Missouri, Carol and her husband Steve Holt of Columbia, Missouri, Steve and his wife Judy Funk of Belleville, Illinois, Mark and his wife Terri Funk of Columbus, Ohio and Terri Funk of Abingdon, Illinois; and a host of friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Dorothy Funk.

A private family graveside services will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hurdland, Missouri, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
