Wilma D. Hatfield age 90 of Berryville, AR formerly of Gorin, MO passed away, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Autumn Hill Therapy and Living Center in Berryville.
Born November 23, 1929 in Gorin, MO she was a daughter of Clifford and Mary Agnes Peterson Mathena. On January 1, 1949 in Gorin, MO she was united in marriage to Reverend Elmer M. Hatfield, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2006
Surviving are one son, Mark L. (Kathy) Hatfield of Kirksville, MO; one daughter, Rebecca L. (Don) O’Brien of Shell Knob, MO; three brothers, Max (Margaret) Mathena of Rock Island, IL, Vernon (Jeannie) Mathena of Rutledge, MO and Ray (Connie) Mathena of Ohio; a sister Mary Ruth Potter of Ohio, a sister-in-law Thelma Mathena of Rock Island, IL, four granddaughters, Patricia D., Melinda K., Merry E. and Michelle L.; and ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hatfield was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Stahle Michael Hatfield on August 29, 1993 and a brother Eugene Mathena.
Wilma was reared in the Gorin community where she graduated from the Gorin High School. She and her husband, Elmer served as pastors for a number of churches in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Texas for many years. They were also missionaries to Alaska for a number of years. They moved to Edina to make their home in August of 1999. Mrs. Hatfield was very active in the women’s missionary unit, the girl’s auxiliary and many other areas of the church. She was very dedicated to the Baptist Church and was known as the kindest person by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2020 until the service of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Kenney Mathis will officiate the services. Burial will be at the Gorin Cemetery in Gorin. MO
