Helen Golston

Helen Golston, 92, of Chesterfield, MO (formerly of Unionville, MO) passed away at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis on August 26, 2020.

Helen Golston was born just east of Unionville, MO on November 1, 1927, the daughter of Clyde and Mary (Maulsby) Davis. On March 21, 1948, she married Billy Golston. They shared over 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Those years were spent on a farm east of Unionville dairy farming, row crop farming, and raising black Angus cattle while upbringing their two children. Helen loved the Lord and didn’t just talk the talk, but walked the walk. She was always willing to share how the good Lord had met her needs. Helen had the gift of hospitality as everyone knew they had an open invitation to their home, day or night. She would meet guests and family at the door where a bed was always ready, the coffee was always hot and a delicious meal was ready to serve. She was the neighbor we all want to have. Helen was a talented seamstress, accountant, and farm hand to Billy. She had a huge garden which she shared with everyone. Helen also collected taxes for Richmond Township for many years. Among all her hard work she found time to read, dance, travel and spent time on her computer. Helen had a sweet personality with just enough sass to make her fun. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Helen is survived by her son, Stephen Golston and wife Karen of Moravia, IA and daughters, Gwynn Newman of Wentzville, MO and Rosetta Gilley of Rockford, IL. Surviving grandchildren are Shawn Stottlemeyer and husband Rick, Adam Newman and wife Christy, Ryan Newman and wife Kris, Nathan Golston and wife Kayla, and Bill Golston and wife Marcy. Her great grandchildren are Doyle, Stasha, Garrett, Zak, Avery, Conner, Mason, Kennedy, Aiden, Max, Keaton, Emersyn, and Gunner. Helen is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Helen was proceeded in death by sons-in-law, Garrett Newman and Ron Gilley; and siblings Lawrence (Mary Alice) Davis, Bert (Lorene) Davis, Pauline (Pearl) Johnson, Iris (Alonzo) Clinkenbeard and Lester (Eva) Davis.
