Wayne C Smith

Wayne Christopher Smith, 55, Of Milan, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 28th, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.

Wayne was born on August 3, 1965, to Willis and Mammie (Almond) Smith in Milan. After graduating high school in Milan, Wayne joined the United States Army where he served for 17 years. He was stationed in Germany for 4 years before being deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Storm. When he returned home, he joined the National Guard where he was stationed in Utah for security purposes for 2 years before being honorably discharged for failing health. Once he returned to Milan, he worked several construction jobs including welding and electrical wiring.

On February 13, 1998, Wayne married Misty Nicole Weaver, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are children Cody (Holly) Smith of Columbia, Missouri, Laticia Smith(Travis Clark) of Milan, Dakota Weaver of Milan, Destiney Smith (Zach Bowens) of Milan, Brody Smith (Shonna Clark) of the home, KC Smith of Milan, Mother in law Penny Weaver of Milan, Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Lisa Weaver of Milan; brothers, Frank Smith of Kirksville, Raymond “Harpo” Smith (Debbie) of Milan, Kenny “Roy” Smith (Beth) of Kirksville; Sister-in-law, Cherie Smith of Milan; Brother-In-Laws, Charles Weaver, Denny Weaver (Mel), Brian Weaver (April); an Aunt Kathern and Donald Creason of Milan; Grandchildren, Autumn and Lexi Smith, Zephaniah Clark, Chaylynn Weaver, Gunner and Kash Simonsen , Myer and Daisey Olmstead, Aubri Carmack, Jayce, Brantley, and Braelyn Kensy; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded death by his parents; brother, Butch Smith; aunts and uncles, Edna Lee and Bill Head, Keith and Juanita Smith, Ellis Smith, Nina Kimmel and Rick Smith; and a brother-in-law, Scott Weaver.

Wayne was a member of the Milan Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed fishing, riding his ranger and hunting for arrowheads in his spare time. He took in every kid as his own and was an amazing father and grandpa to every child he claimed. He most loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Services for Wayne will be held Monday, August 31, 2020 at 1:30 P.M. at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation will be held Sunday evening, August 30, 2020 from 6 to 8 P.M at the funeral home.
