Amos McHenry

Amos Yvonne McHenry, 89, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on January 18, 2020.

Amos was born on March 5, 1930, in Unionville, the 11th of 13 children born to Ernest “E.T.” and Sarah “Mabel” Brooks McHenry.

Amos is survived by his three daughters, Susan Robinson and fiance, Dan Blodgett of Kirksville, MO; Sharon Tormanen of Belton, MO; and Barbie Swiger and husband, Eugene of Overland Park, KS. 6 grandchildren: Ethan Robinson (Catherine), Colby Robinson, Scott (Raylene) Tormanen, Kyle (Jennifer) Tormanen, and Camden (Downie) Swiger, and Jessica (Brian) Haefele. His great-grandchildren: Chloe Robinson, Mercer Haefele, Emma Tormanen, Olivia Robinson, Macon Haefele, and Ethan Tormanen. Also a sister-in-law Vera (Jim) Schoonover and brother-in-law, Randy Kimple. He is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews. Family was especially important to Amos and he was so proud of all of the “McHenry Clan”.

Amos was preceded in death by his wife, son-in-law, Chris Robinson, parents, and 12 siblings: 5 brothers: Bert McHenry, Reg McHenry, Vic McHenry, Doris McHenry, and Jack McHenry, 7 sisters: Ethel King, Vivian Wilson, Gayle Ingersoll, Kathleen Halley, Juanita (Neta) White, Dixie Green, and Barbara Tull.

Amos will always be remembered for having a friendly smile for everyone. He enjoyed knowing he had cut hair for 60 plus years and those years included several generations of the same families.

Funeral services for Amos McHenry will be at the Unionville Assembly of God at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 25, 2020, with visitation on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.

Memorials for Amos are suggested to the American Legion Post #34 of Unionville or the First Assembly of God Church and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
