Ethel Rebecca “Becky” Harlan

Ethel Rebecca “Becky” Harlan, 97 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan.

Becky was born June 5, 1922 in Milan to Harmon and Lorena (Sanders) Kirkendoll. Becky married Art Custer in the 1950’s, he passed away in 1967, she then married Daymond Harlan in 1968, he preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded by her parents and a sister, Janel Mote. Becky is survived by: a nephew, Kirk Mote and wife Marilyn of Jupiter, Florida; great nephews Christopher Mote and Randy Mote and families; a step daughter, Barbara Pigg of Green City; a step son, Larry Harlan and wife Judy of Gardner, Kansas; step grandchildren, Shelli Nickell, Tony Billington, Perry Billington, Kelly Billington (Anne), and Eric Harlan (Shiloh); 10 step great grandchildren; 2 step great great grandchildren; and several great nieces and nephews.

Becky lived most of her life in the Milan area, living a short time in Kansas in her earlier years. She graduated from Milan High School, and worked at First National Bank for over 30 years. Becky was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Red Hatters, and the Milan Federated Garden Club. She was a past member of the Sullivan County Country Club and loved golfing. Becky enjoyed playing Bridge with all her friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Milan on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the church. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
