Jaunita Maye Search

Jaunita May Search,79, of Green City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Jaunita was born in Kirksville on May 14, 1946 to Harvey and Bertha Jaunita (Wever) Ewing. On May 27, 1962, she married Leland Richard Search, who survives of the home. Also surviving: Three sons, Eric Search and wife Stephanie of Green Castle, James Search and wife Rhonda of Green Castle, and David Search of Unionville, Missouri; Grandchildren, Rachael (Hunter) Chase and Jacob (Hannah) Search; Great grandchildren, Walker Chase, Bentley Search, Carley Search, Riley Search, Amiyah Search, Asher Search, and Cecilia Holloway; and a sister, Ann Ford of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Jaunita was preceded in death by: her parents, Harvey and Bertha; two sons, James Richard Search and Richard Christopher Search;  three grandchildren, Jericho Search, Melissa Couch, and Robert Couch; and a sister, Mary Casteel.

Jaunita grew up in the Green City area. She was involved with 4-H when the boys were growing up, and volunteered at the Winigan fair. Jaunita and Leland mowed cemeteries together for many years. She loved animals, over the years they had cats, dogs, donkeys, rabbits, guineas, etc. She enjoyed reading, watching westerns and had a large collection of ink pens. Jaunita most loved spending time with her family and their home was where all the family gatherings took place, she had fun activities for the kids and she was lovingly referred to as “Aunt Nede” to her nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Jaunita will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Southwest of Green City. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday evening at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Zion Cemetery.
