Anjealus “Angel” Crooks

Anjealus “Angel” Leon Crooks was born May 21, 2007 in McKinney, TX. Angel died in his home in Milan, MO on December 15, 2025.

Angel is survived by his parents Adriaan and Lynda Vermeulen. Also surviving Angel are his brothers: Nikko Vermeulen and Koda Parker-Vermeulen; sisters: Tiffany Knapp, Briann Parker, Marissa McNiel, Katie Meis, and K.K. Vermeulen; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Angel lived in 5 states: Texas, South Dakota, California, Arkansas, and Missouri. Angel’s travels helped strengthen his relationship with his parents and several of his siblings. Angel enjoyed helping people and serving others. He did this through his work at Thousand Hills State Park, the Sullivan County Hospital, and general farm work. Angel loved animals of all kinds. His favorite animal was Voodoo, the Black Cat.

Angel was very involved in school activities. He was on the Milan High School football team for 2 years, where he earned the nickname “Big Red.” Angel participated in the Vo-Tech program, where he excelled in graphic design. He also served with the Wildcat Tasty Zone. Angel thrived on affirmation and really appreciated the kind words from the people he was able to help.

A Memorial Service for Angel Crooks will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral in Milan at 3:00 PM, with visitation at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Angel’s name can be made to the Milan Wildcat Tasty Zone.
