Anna Mae Hunziker

Anna Mae Hunziker, age 91, of Hurdland, MO passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.   Anna Mae was born December 21, 1933, in Payson, IL the daughter of Carl E. (Tom) Dingerson and M. Margaret Schnellbecker Dingerson.

She was united in marriage to Jerry David Hunziker on July 29, 1953, in Payson, IL and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2007.   Anna Mae was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons Aaron Hunziker in infancy and Kirby Hunziker, one daughter Keetha Sykes, two grandsons Jeremy Sykes and Kalon Hunziker, and seven brothers and sisters Bob, Earl, and Raymond Dingerson, Bessie Sprague, Alvena (Bean) Campbell, Mert Deters, and Cora Lee Davis.

Surviving are two daughters Debbie (Kent) Hagerla of Edina, MO, Stacy Hunziker of Hurdland, MO, a son-in-law Rex Sykes of Hurdland, MO, one brother Donnie Dingerson of Payson, IL one sister Norma (Bob) Perry of Payson, IL, seven grandchildren Charity (Paul) Chia, Tiffany (Wes) Blankenship, Kelby (Becca) Hagerla, Devon (Stephen) Breitling, Addison (Theresa) Hunziker, Hayden (Libby) Hunziker and Gracie Hunziker, a granddaughter-in-law Pam Sykes, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna Mae was raised in Payson IL, where she graduated from High School.  In her earlier years she was employed for several years with Motorola in Quincy, IL.  After her marriage, she and Jerry moved to Ft. Campbell, KY for three years, where Jerry was stationed during his military service.

After Jerry’s military service they moved to the Hurdland community where they were engaged in farming.  Anna Mae was involved in all aspects of farming.  They farmed, raised Black Angus cattle and raised dogs. Anna Mae was a bus driver and worked in the kitchen at Knox County High School.  She had her pilot’s license and was a member of the MO Flying Farmers and International Flying Farmers.  She had also tandem parachuted at the age of 75, at the Kirksville Air Show.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, collecting frog figurines, was an avid reader and 4-H leader.  She enjoyed making and eating sweets, decorating outside for the seasons and always had a smile on her face and loved to joke with people.  She never knew a stranger.  She was a member of the Red Hat Club and a member of the Hurdland Methodist Church. She in later years, attended the Edina Assembly of God Church. She especially loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s’ events and was their biggest supporter.  She will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in the Edina Assembly of God Church.   Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 1st in the Edina Assembly of God Church.  Officiating the services will be Stephen Breitling assisted by Pastor Brian Burton.

Music will be provided by her granddaughter, Devon Breitling.

Casket bearers will be Kelby Hagerla, Wes Blankenship, Paul Chia, Austin Sykes, Levi Blankenship, Jeremy Price, Aaron Hagerla and Shepherd Breitling.
