With great sadness and love, we announce the passing of Travis Dale Harp, who left us on August 30, 2025. He was a man larger than life – not just in stature, but in heart, spirit and presence.
Travis Harp was born on February 22, 1974, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Harold Dale Harp and Patricia Lee Atkins. Travis shared his life with his beloved wife, Ingrid Harp. Their partnership began long before their wedding in September 2012 in Milan, and together they built a life filled with love and commitment over the course of 23 years. A naturally hardworking man, Travis devoted 25 years of his life to Smithfield Production.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid Harp; his children, Carlos Lopez, Amy Harp, and Tyler Harp; as well as extended family and many dear friends who will cherish his memory.
To know him was to respect him. He was the kind of man you looked up to – not just because of his size, but because of the way he lived his life. He worked hard, never hesitated to help others, and stood firm in his values. Lending a hand, even when it was inconvenient, was just who he was.
Travis was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan through thick and thin, he cheered with passion and never missed a game – preferably with a cold beer in hand.
Travis was a true fighter and survived a battle with leukemia – a testament to his unwavering strength and resilience. He faced life’s challenges with the heart of a lion and the strength of an ox, never allowing illness to define him.
Though he could’ve easily been mistaken for a grizzly bear, especially with his big build and rugged look, he had a soft spot for the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, and above all else, a devoted hunter. Being out in nature wasn’t just a hobby, it was his happy place. He was always willing to share his knowledge and offer tips to anyone eager to learn.
Among the many things that made him special was his love for gathering those he loved most around a fire. He found joy in late-night barbecues and bonfires, dancing beneath the stars and moon with friends and family. These moments, filled with laughter, music, and love, were a reflection of his generous soul and will forever be held close to our hearts.
He was the kind of man people gravitated toward – dependable, strong, funny, and genuine. His absence leaves a deep hole in our hearts, but his stories, laughter, and lessons will live on in all of us who loved him.
A visitation for Travis will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2025 , with a service following at 8:00 PM, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. The family requests attendees wear Chiefs red.
