Charlotte Rae Cohagan

Charlotte Rae (Miller) Cohagan, 63 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

The daughter of William Neil and Frances Louise (Orr) Miller, she was born on March 9, 1962 in Quincy, Illinois. Charlotte was a graduate of Perry (Illinois) High School in 1980 and Culver-Stockton College in 1984, where she was a Hall of Fame softball athlete and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Charlotte was united in marriage to Kirk Cohagan on June 27, 1998 in Keokuk, Iowa and to this union two children, William and Kelsey were born.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Kirk Cohagan of Lancaster, Missouri; two children, William Cohagan of Lancaster, Missouri and Kelsey Cohagan of Lancaster, Missouri; mother, Frances Miller of Baylis, Illinois; two sisters, Lori Beard and husband, Dan of Corinth, Texas and Linda Littleton and husband, Mike of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Chris Miller and wife, Toni of Baylis, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Terry Cohagan of Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Aaron Miller of Baylis, Illinois, Olivia Littleton of Kansas City, Missouri, Kelly Schofield (Danny) of Oklahoma and Clinton Cohagan (Melanie) of California; aunts, Jackie Orr of Perry, Illinois and Edith Curry of Perry, Illinois; several cousins, many good friends and three dogs.

Charlotte is preceded by her father, William “Bill” Miller; brother-in-law, Gene Cohagan; sister-in-law, Tammy Miller and in-laws, Mearl and Margaret Cohagan.

Charlotte was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. She had a successful and impactful teaching and coaching career for 40 years. She began her career in Kirksville, Missouri and taught math and coached softball and basketball in Cairo, South Shelby, Schuyler County and Novinger before her retirement. She was an athlete and sports fan who kept the score books for Schuyler County. She always had a smile for everyone and encouragement for her students.  In her final act, she benefited others by being an organ donor.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Schuyler R-1 High School in Queen City, Missouri with Billy Wallace officiating. Music will be special selections of “Free Bird” and “The Dance.” Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Schuyler R-1 High School in Queen City, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund or a Schuyler R-1 scholarship fund in memory of Charlotte. (Checks be made payable to Kirk Cohagan) Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Fishhook, Illinois on Thursday, May 1, 2025 with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. with Jerry Dougherty officiating.
