Joe W. Waggoner, 71, of Maryville MO, formerly of Green City Mo, passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Joe was born March 26, 1954 in Unionville Mo to Leonard And Marilyn (Quigley) Waggoner. On June 7th 1974 he married Penny Brummitt in Boynton Mo.
Survivors include Penny, his wife of over 50 years, a daughter Brenda (Bob) Conard of Lee’s Summit, a son Steve (Tanja) Waggoner of Goddard KS, 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, and Nora Conard, and Megan, Ashley and Kara Waggoner as well as his sister Karen LaFaver of Green City, his brother Jim Waggoner of El Reno OK, sisters-in-law Val Waggoner and Vicki Tolen and many nieces and nephews, close cousin Vic Taylor and father-in-law John Brummitt.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Waggoner, his nephew John Waggoner, mother-in-law Barbara Brummitt and 3 brothers-in-law.
Joe graduated from Milan High School and lived his early years near Green City Mo until moving to Maryville Mo in 1998. He worked as an auto mechanic and water plant operator until his retirement. Joe especially enjoyed his John Deere 620 tractor that he grew up using. He also enjoyed reading, spending time with his family and helping others.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening April 25, 2025 from 6-8:00 PM at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday morning, April 26, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery near Green City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Mosaic Hospice of St. Joseph who provided excellent care in his final days.
