– The Kansas City Chiefs have a new all-time leader in passing yards.
On the opening night of his eighth season in the league — and seventh as Kansas City’s starting quarterback — Patrick Mahomes surpassed Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Len Dawson for the Chiefs all-time lead in regular season passing yards.
Entering Thursday night, Mahomes needed 84 passing yards to surpass Dawson’s career mark of 28,507.
Dawson set the mark in 183 career games and 3,696 passes. Mahomes reached it in his 97th career regular-season start with his 3,600th career passing attempt.
