Just before the 3 p.m. CT deadline for NFL teams to make roster cuts to reach the 53-man roster limit, the Kansas City Chiefs made a trade for a pass-catcher.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs traded a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2026 to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for tight end Peyton Hendershot.
Pelissero said the Cowboys planned to cut Hendershot. Rather than wait to see if he would make it through the other 30 teams’ waiver claims, Kansas City jumped the line with its second trade in the last two days.
Hendershot played in eight games with the Cowboys in 2023 and has 15 receptions for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns in 25 games over his first two seasons in the NFL. He signed with the Cowboys as a free agent in 2022 after going undrafted out of Indiana University.
