Dorthy Ruth (Brewer) Smith, 96, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.
Born July 23, 1927 in Willmathsville, Missouri, Dorthy was the daughter of Orlando and Beulah Blanch (Rummerfield) Brewer. On March 30, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri, Dorthy was united in marriage to David H. Smith who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Lela Brewer, Hilda Beeman, and Edith Christman; and three brothers, Wesley Brewer, Hershel Brewer, and Orin Stanley Brewer.
Dorthy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Twila Smith of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jeffrey Cannaday of Joshua, TX; and two grandchildren, Reagan and Taylor Smith, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Church of God Holiness in Kirksville with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Family will receive friends at the church for one hour before service time. Entombment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
