The Smithville Warriors showed why they’re the number one rated team in Class 4 with a decisive 49-8 win over the Kirksville Tigers Friday in the district semifinals. Smithville scored on six of seven possessions in the first half, with the seventh possession a kneel down with just a few seconds before halftime. The Tigers opened the second half with an onside kick which was recovered by Jace Kent. Kent then capped off an impressive drive with a six yard touchdown run with 5:52 left in the third. The two point conversion made it 42-8. Smithville put an exclamation point on the evening with 7:45 to play by scoring their seventh touchdown of the night, and Smithville wins it 49-8. KHS finishes the season 5-6, which included a 3-2 finish in the NCMC.
