ARIZONA 2 – Philadelphia 1… Ketel Marte singled home Pavin Smith with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Diamondbacks pulled within 2-1 of the Phillies in the NLCS. Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s seventh-inning double scored Lane Thomas with a tying run. Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt and his counterpart Ranger Suarez took shutouts into the seventh inning and neither got a decision. The series stays in the desert for today’s Game 4. Lefthander Cristopher Sánchez gets the start for Philadelphia. Joe Mantiply gets the start for the Diamondbacks. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm and the game airs on TBS.
AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME 4…
Houston 10 – TEXAS 3… The Astros pounded the Rangers to even the ALCS at two games apiece. Alex Bregman tripled home two runs and scored on Yordan Alvarez’s single in the top of the first inning. Alvarez added a tie-breaking sacrifice fly and José Abreu belted a three-run homer in the fourth. Chas McCormick homered with a runner aboard for Houston. The series stays in Arlington for Game 5 today. Texas sends lefthander Jordan Montgomery to the mound, where he’ll be opposed by Houston righthander Justin Verlander. Gametime is 4:00 pm and the game airs on FS1.
