Texas 5 – HOUSTON 4… The Rangers scored four runs in the top of the first inning and Jonah Heim’s homer to lead off the third proved decisive as they held off the Astros to take a 2-0 lead in the ALDS. They head home to host Game 3 tomorrow behind scheduled starter Max Scherzer.
NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES OPENER…
PHILADELPHIA 5 – Arizona 3… The Phillies built a 5-0 lead after five innings and hung on to top the Diamondbacks in the National League Championship Series opener. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit first-inning and homers and Nick Castellanos went deep in the second. Harper and J.T. Realmuto produced run-scoring singles. Zack Wheeler allowed just two runs on three hits over six innings. The series stays in Philadelphia for today’s Game 2. The Phillies send Aaron Nola to the mound, where he’ll be opposed by Merrill Kelly. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
