NATIONAL LEAGUE
ATLANTA 6 – Chi. Cubs 5 (10 innings)… Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies produced run-scoring singles in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the NL East-champion Braves over a Cubs team seeking a playoff spot. Albies and Marcell Ozuna hit solo homers for Atlanta.

MILWAUKEE 3 – St. Louis 2… The NL Central-champion Brewers eased past the Cardinals after spotting them a two-run lead. Tyrone Taylor stroked a pair of run-scoring doubles.

L.A. Dodgers 8 – COLORADO 2… David Peralta doubled home a tie-breaking run and came around to score during a three-run top of the fifth inning that gave the NL West-champion Dodgers the lead for good in their win over the Rockies. Freddie Freeman blasted a three-run homer and James Outman homered with the bases empty for Los Angeles. Emmet Sheehan (4-1) gave up two runs on five hits and struck out 10 over six innings.

PHILADELPHIA 7 – Pittsburgh 6… The NL wild-card Phillies rallied from five runs down after 3-1/2 innings to top the Pirates. Bryce Harper smacked a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. Garrett Stubbs hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run fourth. Edmundo Sosa also went deep.

San Diego 5 – SAN FRANCISCO 2 (10 innings)… Xavier Bogaerts lifted a sacrifice fly and Manny Machado singled home two runs as the Padres buried the Giants with a three-run top of the 10th inning. Garrett Cooper tied the game with a leadoff homer in the seventh.

N.Y. METS 11 – Miami 2… Francisco Lindor homered with a runner aboard and singled home two runs as the Mets pounded the Marlins in the doubleheader opener. Pete Alonso and Mark Vientos also hit two-run homers.

Miami 4 – N.Y. METS 2… The Marlins scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to get past the Mets and earn a split of the twinbill. Jon Berti and Jesús Sánchez hit solo homers for Miami.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Texas 5 – L.A. ANGELS 0… The Rangers continued to close in on the AL West title by blanking the Angels. Dane Dunning (12-6) tossed three-hit ball over seven innings and got help from two relievers. Adolis Garcia doubled home a run in the top of the first inning and smacked a solo homer in the third. Evan Carter added a two-run homer and Marcus Semien also went deep.

Houston 8 – SEATTLE 3… The Astros handled the Mariners to move a half-game ahead of Toronto and 1-1/2 games ahead of Seattle n the race for the AL’s second wild-card spot. Yordan Alvarez hit a leadoff homer and Mauricio Dubón belted a three-run shot in the top of the fourth inning. Martin Maldonado also connected.

Tampa Bay 5 – BOSTON 0… Tyler Glasnow (10-7) held the Red Sox to two hits over five innings and four relievers shut the door for the playoff-bound Rays. Josh Lowe’s homer to lead off the top of the second inning provided all the offense Tampa Bay needed. Isaac Paredes homered with a runner aboard in the sixth.

MINNESOTA 6 – Oakland 4… Ryan Jeffers hit a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning before Trevor Larnach doubled home a run and scored in the eighth to push the AL Central-champion Twins past the Athletics. Edouard Julien homered to lead off the first.

N.Y. Yankees 6 – TORONTO 0… Gerrit Cole (15-4) fired a two-hit shutout and the Yankees dealt the Blue Jays’ playoff chances a blow. Cole struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Aaron Judge hit a pair of two-run homers. Giancarlo Stanton contributed a two-run single.

DETROIT 4 – Kansas City 0 (susp.)… Miguel Cabrera hit a solo homer, Tyler Nevin added a pinch-hit three-run shot and the Tigers built a four-run lead before rain suspended their game with the Royals. It will resume ahead of today’s regularly-scheduled contest.

INTERLEAGUE
BALTIMORE 5 – Washington 1… The Orioles cruised past the Nationals to maintain their 2-1/2-game lead over Tampa Bay in the AL East race. Grayson Rodriguez (7-4) gave up a run on six hits over 5-2/3 innings. Adley Rutschman hit a two-run homer and singled home a run for Baltimore.

Arizona 3 – CHI. WHITE SOX 0… The Diamondbacks blanked the White Sox to move two games ahead of the Cubs in the race for the NL’s second wild card. Brandon Pfaadt (3-9) tossed five-hit ball over 5-2/3 innings and four relievers did the rest. Corbin Carroll stroked a two-run double and scored on Tommy Pham’s single as Arizona scored all three runs in the top of the third inning.

CLEVELAND 4 – Cincinnati 3… The Guardians jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings and held off the Reds. Shane Bieber (6-6) allowed a run on five hits over six innings. José Tena had a couple of hits, and his run-scoring single brought home the decisive run in the fourth.
