NATIONAL LEAGUE
St. Louis 6 – PITTSBURGH 4… The Cardinals jumped out to a five-run lead after their first two at-bats and held off the Pirates. Richie Palacios and Nolan Arenado stroked two-run doubles. Zack Thompson (3-5) allowed two runs on six hits over five innings.
San Francisco 8 – PHILADELPHIA 6 (10 innings)… Paul DeJong came through with a tie-breaking two-run double and Thairo Estrada lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning as the Giants put away the Phillies. DeJong’s two-run homer in the fourth gave San Francisco a 4-0 lead that it couldn’t hold. Wilmer Flores smacked a solo homer in the first.
SAN DIEGO 4 – Miami 0… Seth Lugo (5-6) tossed three-hit ball over six innings and got help from four Padres relievers in the shutout of the Marlins. Xavier Bogaerts homered with a runner aboard for San Diego.
ATLANTA 7 – N.Y. Mets 0… Charlie Morton (13-10) tossed two-hit ball and struck out 11 over seven innings and two relievers did the rest as the Braves breezed past the Mets. Marcell Ozuna went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBIs. Vaughn Grissom brought home two runs with a triple.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
WHITE SOX 5 – Seattle 4 (10 innings)… Tim Anderson scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning on a throwing error by Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford. Anthony Benintendi singled home Oscar Colás with a tying run in the ninth. Tracy Thompson homered with a runner aboard for Chicago.
Kansas City 4 – OAKLAND 0… Cole Ragans (5-4) allowed the Athletics only two hits and struck out 11 over six innings before three Royals relievers completed the shutout. Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Dairon Blanco also went deep.
BALTIMORE 7 – Toronto 0… Orioles starter Dean Kremer (12-5) scattered five hits over six innings and got help from three relievers in the shutout of the Blue Jays. Anthony Santander hit two solo homers. Adley Rutschman contributed a two-run single.
Boston 7 – HOUSTON 5 (10 innings)… The Red Sox outlasted the Astros after spotting them an early three-run lead. Adam Duvall blasted a three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning. Alex Verdugo doubled home a run and scored on Triston Casas’ single in the third.
INTERLEAGUE
Cincinnati 9 – L.A. ANGELS 4… Elly De La Cruz belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the fifth inning and legged out a bases-clearing triple in the seventh to lead the Reds past the Angels in the opener of a doubleheader. Spencer Steer produced a pair of run-scoring singles. L.A.’s Shohei Ohtani left the game with arm fatigue in the top of the second inning after throwing 26 pitches and hitting a two-run homer.
Cincinnati 7 – L.A. ANGELS 3… Tyler Stephenson hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning and Matt McLain homered with a runner aboard in the eighth to give the Reds a sweep of the twinbill. Three relievers held L.A. hitless over the final 3-2/3 innings.
Chi. Cubs 6 – DETROIT 4… Yan Gomes singles home Ian Happ with a tie-breaking run in the top of the eighth inning and Niko Hoerner lifted a sacrifice fly in the ninth as the Cubs pulled past the Tigers. Cody Bellinger lined a two-run single for Chicago.
MILWAUKEE 8 – Minnesota 7 (10 innings)… Willy Adames singled home a tying run in the bottom of the 10th inning and scored the winning run on Brice Turang’s single as the Brewers outlasted the Twins. Adames also hit a two-run homer. Tyrone Taylor and William Contreras added solo shots.
TAMPA BAY 6 – Colorado 5 (10 innings)… Brandon Lowe singled home Osleivis Basabe in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Rays over the Rockies. Yandy Diaz singled home a run in the fifth and tied the game with a two-run single in the ninth. Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes hit solo homers.
N.Y. YANKEES 9 – Washington 1… Aaron Judge hit three home runs and drove in six runs as the Yankees rolled past the Nationals to snap their nine-game losing streak. DJ LeMahieu also connected. Luis Severino (3-8) limited Washington to one hit over 6-2/3 innings.
L.A. Dodgers – CLEVELAND (suspended)… Enrique Hernández’s two-run double helped the Dodgers take a 3-1 lead over the Guardians before play was suspended by rain after two innings and a one-hour, 36-minute delay. The game will resume at 12:10 p.m. Eastern today.
