NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia 3 – MIAMI 1… The Phillies came alive to score all three runs in the top of the ninth inning and upend the Marlins. Nick Castellanos connected for a tie-breaking two-run homer after Bryce Harper’s double put Philadelphia on the board.
Milwaukee 6 – WASHINGTON 4…`Brice Turang and Joey Wiemer stroked two-run singles during a four-run top of the fourth inning that carried the Brewers past the Nationals. Freddy Peralta (7-8) allowed three runs on six hits over six innings.
CHI. CUBS 20 – Cincinnati 9… The Cubs rocked Reds starter Ben Lively (4-7) for 13 runs on 13 hits over the first four innings on their way to a rout. Dansby Swanson homered twice and drove in five runs. Mike Tauchman, Niko Hoerner, Miguel Amaya and Patrick Wisdom also went deep. Jeimer Candelario had four of Chicago’s 21 hits.
San Diego 8 – COLORADO 5… Juan Soto drove in four runs with a pair of homers and the Padres fought off the Rockies. Fernando Tatis Jr. added a pair of RBIs.
SAN FRANCISCO 4 – Arizona 3… Brandon Crawford tied the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and LaMont Wade Jr. homered in the eighth to send the Giants past the Diamondbacks. San Francisco catcher Patrick Bailey picked off Luis Perdomo at first base to end the game.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Tampa Bay 5 – N.Y. YANKEES 2… Zach Eflin (12-6) pitched three-hit ball over six scoreless innings and the Rays downed the Yankees. Randy Arozarena homered with a runner aboard and Yandy Diaz smacked a solo shot.
Baltimore 13 – TORONTO 3… Anthony Santander unloaded a grand slam, Gunnar Henderson homered and drove in four runs, and the Orioles pounded the Blue Jays. Ryan Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Kyle Bradish (7-6) allowed three runs on four hits over seven innings.
TEXAS 2 – Chi. White Sox 0… Andrew Heaney (8-6) limited the White Sox to two hits and struck out 11 over six innings and three Rangers relievers completed the shutout. Texas got solo homers from Mitch Garver and Adolis García.
HOUSTON 2 – Cleveland 0… Framber Valdez (9-7) tossed the 16th no-hitter in franchise history as the Astros clipped the Guardians. Valdez fanned seven and walked just one. Kyle Tucker’s two-run single in the top of the third inning provided the game’s only offense.
Boston 6 – SEATTLE 4… Alex Verdugo homered with a runner aboard, Ryan McGuire knocked in two runs with a homer and a sacrifice fly, and the Red Sox handled the Mariners. Christian Arroyo doubled home two runs for Boston.
INTERLEAGUE
PITTSBURGH 4 – Detroit 1… Endy Rodríguez tripled home a run and Liover Peguero hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning and the Pirates breezed past the Tigers. Johan Oviedo (5-11) surrendered a run on six hits over seven innings.
ATLANTA 5 – L.A. Angels 1… Michael Harris II hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning and homered again in the seventh to help power the Braves past the Angels. Orlando Arcia contributed a two-run homer. Spencer Strider (12-3) gave up a run on five hits over 6-2/3 innings.
Minnesota 3 – ST. LOUIS 2… Donovan Solano came through with a tie-breaking two-run single in the top of the seventh inning and the Twins hung on to top the Cardinals. Pablo López (6-6) held St. Louis to a run on four hits over six innings.
KANSAS CITY 7 – N.Y. Mets 6 (10 innings)… The Royals rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to stun the Mets for their fourth straight win. MJ Melendez came around to score the winning run on a balk after he singled home a tying run. Maikel Garcia knocked in two runs for Kansas City.
L.A. DODGERS 7 – Oakland 3… Enrique Hernandez’s bases-clearing double capped a four-run bottom of the third inning that gave the Dodgers the lead for good in their defeat of the Athletics. Mookie Betts homered to lead off the seventh. James Outman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and drew a bases-loaded walk.
