Angelia C. “Angie” Kite, 76, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.
Angie was born on December 29, 1946, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Wendell Wayne and Marjorie Priscilla Black Kite of Hurdland, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Galen W. Acton in 1965 and to this union a son was born, James W. Acton. In 1971, Angie married Larry Mayer.
Angie attended school in Hurdland, Missouri and graduated from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1964. She was employed by the McGraw-Edison Plant for seven years then moved in 1971, to Topeka, Illinois where she owned and operated her own business for twelve years. In 1983 she returned to northeast Missouri and lived on a farm near Adair, Missouri and worked for the Kirksville R-III School district for fifteen years and the YMCA for six years. Angie retired in 2001, when her health failed, and was a resident of La Plata and Brashear, Missouri since 1995. She was also a member of the Moose Club in Kirksville, Missouri.
Also known as “Grannie Annie” her three grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and joy. She loved reading to them, doing art projects, and especially the “Hugs”. Angie loved her family dearly and her many friends.
Angie is survived by her son, Jamie Acton of Hurdland, Missouri; her grandchildren, Alexa Rae and Sturgis Knupp of Kirksville, Missouri, Colt James Acton, and Averi Jade Acton both of Kirksville, Missouri; a sister, Sharon and Bob Pitts of Armington, Illinois; a brothers, Monte (Denise) Kite of Hannibal, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Kite of Edina, Missouri, and Sandy Kite of Quincy, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Marjorie Kite; siblings, James Kite in infancy, Karen and Marshall Gooch, Max Kite, and Mike Kite.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday Morning at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hurdland, Missouri.
