TORONTO 5 – Chicago 2… The Maple Leafs buried the Blackhawks with a three-goal first period. William Nylander scored a goal and assisted on two others. Auston Matthews and Rasmus Sandin each had a goal and an assist.

ARIZONA 1 – Tampa Bay 0 (SO)… Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller scored in the shootout to send the Coyotes past the Lightning. Goalie Connor Ingram stopped all 47 shots.

Detroit 5 – EDMONTON 4 (SO)… The Red Wings recovered to outlast the Oilers after blowing a two-goal third-period lead. David Perron and Pius Suter scored in the tie-breaker. Robby Fabbri and Dylan Larkin each had a goal and an assist.

Colorado 3 – MINNESOTA 2… Nathan MacKinnon’s second-period goal proved to be the difference as the Avalanche held off the Wild. Goals by Andrew Cogliano and Denis Malgin staked Colorado to a two-goal lead.

Buffalo 7 – ANAHEIM 3… The Sabres scored five unanswered goals spanning the second and third periods to upend the Sabres. Casey Milttelstadt scored a tie-breaking goal late in the second period.

N.Y. Rangers 6 – VANCOUVER 4… Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad each had two goals and an assist in leading the Rangers past the Canucks. Chris Kreider and K’Andre Miller also found the net.
