The Kirksville Lady Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter and won third place at the Southern Boone Classic 52-38 over St. Elizabeth Saturday in Ashland. KHS opened with a 9-3 lead before the Eagles went on an 11-0 run to take the lead in the 2nd quarter. The game turned with Kirksville’s Carlee Smith. Playing injured with bruised ribs, Carlee calmly dribbled the ball down the floor with 4 seconds left in the 2nd and hit a buzzer beating two-pointer to give KHS a 19-16 lead at the break. Smith scored 4 more big points in the 4th to go along with Elli Porter’s 6 4th quarter points and the Lady Tigers pulled away 52-38. Porter finished with 15 points, Smith with 8, along with Jada Jackson and Jersey Herbst. KHS climbs to 10-10 on the year and will take on Moberly Tuesday at Tiger Gym.
