Bulldog Women Take Down Quincy

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Hannah Belanger scored 24 points and Gracie Stugart dished out 10 assists as the Truman Women’s Basketball team picked up their 11th straight win over the Quincy Hawks 68-56 in Pershing Arena on Thursday night. The Bulldogs improve to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Bulldogs hit seven of their first 10 shots and led 18-12 after the first quarter. Quincy drew as close as 18-16 with a pair of chances to tie or take the lead before a Belanger bomb from distance eventually gave the Bulldogs a 10-point lead in the quarter.

Truman dominated the third quarter outscoring the Hawks 22-14 on consecutive three-pointers by Claire Rake.

Quincy would cut the lead down to nine to start the fourth quarter but Belanger again rained in a triple and the Bulldogs never looked back.

Belanger finished with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting and four triples while adding five rebounds. Ellie Weltha added 10 with seven board and Stugart recorded a career-best 10 assists against only two turnovers.
